CHALLENGE
In 2021, the Red Fish Healing Centre was eager to open its doors to those who required its services. Contracted by EllisDon, a leading global construction services company headquartered in Ontario, Cascade Roofing and Exteriors was assigned the task of installing a flat roof membrane and insulated walls on the new health care facility. All work on this project was under a tight deadline to completion. Added to that, the project was stalled by the effects of a global pandemic.
According to Cascade’s Project Manager, the pressure was on. “During this project, we were faced with a few struggles,” he said. “We were dealing with COVID shut downs and material shortages. We had to plan and order as far in advance as we could.”
SOLUTION
Despite the unforgiving deadline, Cascade rose to the challenge and mobilized more than thirty workers onto the Coquitlam site who worked six to seven days per week to complete the project.
Cascade installed a modified bitumen roofing membrane called SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene), as well as a hidden fastener insulated wall system with thermal clips.
As the only company working on the exterior of the structure, Cascade was easily able to coordinate the lift machinery and place it onto patios and roof areas, especially where accessibility posed a challenge.

In the end, Cascade’s work was completed on time, which pleased the owners of the new health care facility, as well as the General Contractors.
